Laser distance sensor with integrated display


During the Hanover Fair, ipf electronic will be presenting, among other things, the PT730520 laser distance sensor,which, thanks to its properties and equipment, has a great deal to offer for a variety of applications.


The sensor, which operates with light propagation time technology (no reflector necessary), is especially well suited for very precise positioning tasks over long distances due to its range of up to 20m with a repeat accuracy of 2mm (repeat accuracy of 1mm at distances of up to 10m). Potential applications are found in, e.g., automated warehouses, freight elevators, production facilities or packaging machines and commercial vehicles as well as for crane positioning.



Due to its zinc diecast housing with degree of protection IP67, its high shock resistance (up to 30G), an operating temperature range from -15°C to +50°C and the possibility to realize background and foreground suppression, the PT730520 is predestined for potential fields of use in the automotive industry and beyond, including many other demanding industrial applications — even in particularly harsh environmental conditions.


In addition to the convincing technical characteristics, the compact laser distance sensor features a high-resolution and, thus, very easy-to-read OLED bicolor display with menu navigation for configuration. Settings are made via three push buttons located above the status LED.


In addition to a freely scalable analog output (current or voltage), the PT730520 also offers two separate, configurable switching outputs (push-pull) as well as an RS 485 interface for bidirectional data transmission. Via an additional multi-function input, the device can also be taught or, if necessary, the laser deactivated.
