What is so special about high temperature sensors?

Inductive high temperature sensors are often indispensible where, in a manner of speaking, situations become ‘heated’, be it in the field of plastic injection molding, in foundries, in paint shops and similar applications.

 

Here, they act as signal transducers for different control sequences, secure areas that are exposed to hazards or perform important control functions. But what makes high temperature sensors so special? Furthermore, what challenges have to be overcome when designing these ‘specialists’?
