Longitudinally welded pipes are color-coded along the weld seam by a manufacturer according to customer requirements. Since this marking can be very important for subsequent processing by the end customer, the color application on the weld seam must be certified consistently and at the same time extremely reliably.
In the search for a suitable solution, the manufacturer encountered problems above all with the sometimes irregular paint application, the high intrinsic reflection of the pipes, and the freshly applied paint for marking before the inspection station.
The sensor specialists from ipf electronic were finally able to solve the challenges by recommending the "True-Color-Sensor" of the OF34 series to cope with the very specific requirements in this application.
