IPF is even smaller

Diffuse-reflection sensor with background suppression in M5

After IPF presented the OT080176 in the M8 design at Motek 2023, the sensor specialist from the Sauerland region is now going one better when it comes to miniaturization. The OT0591A8 with its M5 design is truly tiny and is currently the smallest diffuse-reflection sensor version with background suppression in the portfolio.

The sensor, which works with a non-polarized red light LED, has a range of 8 to 20 mm. With optimum reflection of the transmitted light on an object, a maximum switching distance of up to 25mm can even be achieved.

The sensitivity of the OT0591A8 is not set on the probe itself due to its small design, but during installation via the setting of the device distance to the object. In this context, an integrated LED signals whether the diffuse-reflection sensor reliably detects an object or not and also indicates when the power reserve is reached during running operation, e.g. due to increasing soiling of the optics.

The new, 36mm long tiny IP67 sensor from IPF has a robust stainless steel housing and an active surface made of stable acrylic glass (PMMA). The maximum switching frequency is 500Hz. Suitable mounting accessories and cable connectors in M8 and M12 designs are also available from IPF.
