Range up to 4000mm
IO-Link diffuse reflection laser sensor in M12 from ipf
The new diffuse reflection laser sensor PT120520 with IO-Link interface from ipf electronic achieves sensing ranges of up to 4000mm despite its compact M12 design.
As the PT120520 works according to the time-of-flight method (time-of-flight measurement), object detection does not depend on the strength of the reflected light, but on its transit time. This makes it possible to achieve reliable background suppression. A laser diode (laser protection class 1) with non-visible infrared light with a wavelength of 880nm is used as the transmitting element.
The particular advantages of IO-Link devices such as this diffuse reflection laser sensor are that they can be adjusted very flexibly and also provide useful functions. The PT120520 achieves ranges of up to a maximum of 1200mm in the standard setting (short mode). Thanks to the integrated IO-Link interface, however, the diffuse reflection sensor can also be switchover to long mode and then achieves remarkable sensing ranges of up to 4000mm.
The IO-Link interface also offers further practical options, such as setting the switching hysteresis and selecting the output function of the switching output (normally closed, normally open). Furthermore, the PT120520 enables other helpful functions, such as programming a switching window (area monitoring). Here, two limit values are set in the detection range of the diffuse reflection sensor, which define the area that is to be certified for the presence of an object.
Basic settings and functions can also be stored in the device via teach-in.
The new IO-Link diffuse reflection laser sensor in stainless steel housing (protection class IP65) is also suitable for use in harsh operating conditions and is designed for ambient temperatures from -10° C to +60° C.
