OC53 now also with PROFINET onboard

ipf electronic supplements camera sensor series

The camera sensors OC53 camera sensors from ipf electronic have been expanded. The successful series is now complemented by solutions with some interesting technical innovations. Camera sensors in the series OC53 camera sensors have been proving extremely successful in a wide range of industrial applications for several years. Until now, ipf electronic's range consisted of around 40 different contour-based compact devices with focal distances of 10mm, 12mm and 16mm and operating distances of 50mm to 300mm as well as camera sensors with C-mount lens mount, which also enable color evaluation, among other things.

The devices in the OC53 series have established themselves as true all-rounders for highly flexible use in numerous different industrial applications. A decisive reason for this is the wide-ranging functionality of the sensors due to numerous feature checks, different part locations, the control of external illumination with integrated flash controller (versions with C-mount thread) as well as different image sensors for higher resolutions.

Into the future with Profinet and more power

Now ipf electronic is adding the OC53-series with a total of 17 camera sensors, which are characterized above all by some groundbreaking performance features.

All new products now have Profinet onboard with a corresponding interface to the open Industrial Ethernet standard, making it even easier to integrate the camera sensors into the fieldbus environments of industrial automation concepts.

Equipped with a more powerful processor, the computing power of the new camera sensors has also been significantly increased. This has a particular impact on automatic part location (360° part recognition eliminates the need for mechanical alignment of test objects) as well as on code and character recognition thanks to a significantly faster reaction time and faster image processing of the devices.

Optimized exposure thanks to new lenses

Like the previous OC53-series, the latest solutions also include compact devices with integrated illumination and a permanently installed lens, as well as camera sensors with C-mount lens mount and integrated flash controller for controlling external lighting. The new compact systems have a resolution of 0.3 megapixels and are also equipped via innovative lenses with

focal distances of 12mm and 16mm, which further optimize the required brightness of the integrated illumination with regard to the exposure of test objects. Compared to the previous compact devices, a lower illumination power is therefore sometimes required for reliable object detection in a wide range of applications.

More overview in real time thanks to multiviewer display

All cameras can also be configured during the production process via a web interface suitable for any standard browser. New for all models of the OC53-series is now a multiviewer display, which enables up to 16 camera sensors to be visualized simultaneously on a large screen in real time using the web interface. The multiviewer thus provides a kind of live image of how all cameras installed in the current production process are functioning and also offers the option of calling up statistics for each device (e.g. on the number of IO and NOK parts detected).

The new camera sensors are identical in design to the previous versions of the OC53-series, have an aluminum housing with protection class IP67 (C-mount devices with lens protection housing) and are suitable for use in a temperature range from +5°C to +50°C.
