In industrial applications, counting, adding or subtracting pulses, measuring distances, or recording times are common tasks. However, it is often not worth using a PLC (programmable logic controller) just to make an inquiry about data from only one or two sensors. Thanks to the batch counter or total sum function, even more complex control tasks can be implemented.
