Filling level sensors - capacitive
There are filling level and level sensors that operate according to various measurement principles. The choice of sensor depends on the medium to be measured and the environmental conditions. The material flow in a vibrating hopper can be inquired about exceptionally well using inductive level sensors, whose pendulum is moved by the material inside the hopper. The detection of liquid or solid filling levels can be achieved, e.g., with capacitive level sensors. These operate on the principle of a capacitor, whereby the medium alters the dielectric constant between two electrodes. The resulting change is converted into a digital output signal. Conductive filling level relays offer another alternative for detecting the filling levels of conductive media. The resistance between the reference and meter electrodes is measured. When the filling level falls below or exceeds a set threshold, a relay output switches.
