Magnetic field sensors - Proximity switches
Magnetic proximity switches are contactless sensors. They detect magnetic objects or magnets, regardless of whether they are moving or not. Since magnetic fields penetrate all non-magnetizable materials, the sensors can recognize magnets even through non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, aluminum, plastic, wooden walls, or heavy soiling. The achievable switching distance of the devices depends on the strength of the magnetic field acting on them. Magnetic sensors are used for positioning (e.g., position control on lifting devices), speed monitoring (e.g., on conveyor belts or through the aluminum housings of gear wheels), or for position detection (e.g., of cargo carriers).
