Laser for the landing runway

Unusual use of IPF sensor technology

There are numerous industrial applications in which precise laser sensors from IPF prove their high performance. However, one rather unusual application for laser light barriers from the sensor specialist from Altena is a runway for sports aircraft. How did this come about?

Perfect landing: Every autumn, the Cloppenburg/Varrelbusch air sports club organizes a so-called landing championship, in which the participants have to touch down with their gliders or motor planes at a specific position on a runway that is around 850 metres long and approximately 45 meters wide. The highest score is awarded for the best control of the aircraft and thus a perfect landing.
