Flat, large-area plastic parts for the automotive industry are transferred to a downstream transport process via a rod mesh conveyor belt. This requires reliable presence control of the workpieces on the conveyor belt.
Several factors, including the higher ambient temperatures in the area of the conveyor belt as well as process-related dust generation, do not make reliable recognition easy. Since the initially preferred systems did not lead to success, the automotive supplier turned to ipf electronic. A high-performance photoelectric sensor from the sensor specialist finally mastered the challenges.
