Practice shows what "robust" and "durable" mean

Magnetic cylinder sensors are not used in everyday practice. Despite high mechanical loads due to impacts, vibrations, extreme oscillations, etc., the devices must function reliably at all times. In addition, they are often exposed to very low or very high temperatures and frequently come into direct contact with coolants, lubricants, emulsions and oils, to name but a few, especially in the metalworking industry. Our magnetic cylinder sensors must also be able to withstand paints, cleaning agents and solvents to ensure that they always perform their task without malfunction over several years or decades, as the following application example shows.

A company prints advertising materials, including balloons, which are provided with single or multi-colored imprints according to customer requirements. For the double-sided printing with the desired motif, the balloons are inflated to part of their actual volume in a corresponding system. In the printing station, a motif is first applied to the first side of the balloon, which is then turned via a turning device so that the motif can also be applied to the second side. For this purpose, a vacuum suction head is moved to the balloon in the turning station via a pneumatic cylinder. The head sucks in the balloon, then moves back via the pneumatic cylinder, rotates 180°, moves forward again via the cylinder and places the balloon back on the holder.

As a balloon can burst during this "turning maneuver", paint splashes in the system and therefore paint deposits on our cylinder sensors are not uncommon. Despite these adverse conditions, the devices with their degree of protection IP67 work perfectly and extremely reliably throughout production. The system is also cleaned regularly to remove paint residues, e.g. from profiles and other system components. The cylinder sensors come into direct contact with highly effective cleaning agents and solvents. But our devices also survive this "treatment" completely unscathed.

With the magnetic cylinder sensors from ipf electronic, the company has found a solution for a production environment that places special demands on high reliability and thus wear-free and trouble-free operation in several respects - an extremely robust and therefore durable solution.
