Safety sensor for industrial doors

Tests of several thousand industrial doors throughout Germany showed that around one in four doors overruns the approved forces. However, 75 percent of all door systems can be repaired in accordance with current regulations with little effort as part of normal annual maintenance.

Sectional, roller, sliding and entrance doors are an integral part of any logistics operation. However, very few people think about whether they function correctly and are therefore safe at all times in their day-to-day work. However, neglecting gate safety and the associated system deficiencies can result in serious injuries or worse. To prevent this from happening in the first place, ipf electronic offers the PY930900, a safety sensor for industrial doors.

The sensor with three-dimensional presence detection in front of the door can replace existing solutions such as contact strips, light barriers and light curtains. The solution, which guarantees safeguarding in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 PL "d"/CAT 2 and EN 12453 type E (certified high-performance solution for safeguarding industrial doors), is quick and easy to put into operation. Alignment of the sensor (using 3 visible laser spots) and automatic teach-in of the field size is carried out via a universal remote control, which can also be used to parameterize other features.

The PY930900 uses time-of-flight measurement for detection, with which even small objects are reliably recognized. Thanks to the dynamic orientation of the laser beams on a total of 4 detection levels, the sensor reliably detects hazardous areas both in and in front of the door closing level - with a range of up to 10x10m. The IP65 sensor filters out door vibrations, external disturbing influences (e.g. rain, snow or moving vegetation) as well as door leaf deformations and also offers the option of opening a door via 2 virtual push buttons.
