The new optical sensor OT080176 is the smallest diffuse reflection sensor in M8 threaded design with background suppression in ipf electronic's portfolio.

 

Thanks to the integrated point source LED with red light, the sensor has a sharply defined point of light without the dark spot in the middle typically associated with conventional LEDs. This not only enables precise alignment of the diffuse reflection sensor, but also exact detection of the object.

 

The sensing range of the sensor, which is adjustable via a potentiometer OT080176 is between 7mm and 30mm. The correct setting can be read from the LED integrated in the sensor housing, which also indicates the functional reserve along with the signal detection. A flashing LED provides instant indication if an object is not recognized correctly so that it can be readjusted immediately. This is not necessary in standard mode and if the alignment remains correct. As the tiny device is via background suppression, it detects the bracket of the light reflected by the object regardless of its degree of reflection or that of the background, ensuring very accurate detection. The diffuse reflection sensor has a switching frequency of 450Hz and a response/decay time of 1.11ms.

 

The OT080176 in stainless steel housing (degree of protection IP67) is designed for operation in harsh industrial environments and is suitable for ambient temperatures from -5° C to +55° C. The electrical connection is made via a 3-pin M8 connector.
