"One speaks, the other listens"

Communication in its simplest form is utilized by ipf electronic in the UY21 series. More precisely, the transmission medium of sound is used in an adapted form to solve demanding applications. Similar to a lecture in which there is a speaker and a listener, the concept of the UY21 series uses a transmitter and a receiver. Sound, ultrasonic to be precise, is transmitted between them.

If an object is placed in the area between the devices, one of them can no longer hear the other. However, the interruption does not lead to the end of communication, but to a signal being sent to the higher-level evaluation system. The contactless sensors are best suited for object positioning or belt tear detection.

The devices even recognize transparent objects with rough surfaces. And if the environmental conditions become rougher, e.g. due to dirt or dust, the pair reliably does its job. The transmitter and receiver of the ultrasonic barrier can be mounted at a distance of up to 300 mm and, unlike scanning ultrasonic devices, have no dead zone. The system is available as a PNP normally open contact version with a 2m connection cable (UY210100) and a 10m cable version (UY210102). The range is rounded off with an additional 2m cable variant as an NC contact device (UY210200).
