The readout adapter is placed on the optical interface (DIN EN 62056-21) of the counter. A neodymium permanent magnet provides the necessary hold. The controller integrated in the housing reads the data from the counter via the optical interface, interprets it and outputs it as a Modbus RTU telegram.
