Reliable fill level monitoring
Sensors with analog evaluation are required to reliably monitor the fill level of a tank. An ideal solution for this task is the ultrasonic sensor UT309023 from ipf electronic in combination with the versatile analog converter BA050100.
The ultrasonic sensor UT309023 is mounted in the lid area of a silo tank so that the sound cone generated by the sound transducer is aligned on the material to be detected. The sensor calculates the accuracy of the distance from the sensor to the material and back to the device based on the time it takes for the ultrasonic waves to travel from the sensor to the material and back to the device and outputs this value as an analog current or voltage signal. The measuring range of 600-6,000 mm can be perfectly adapted to the silo tank via the teach mode or the integrated IO-Link interface.
The filling level does not necessarily have to be evaluated by a PLC (programmable logic controller), but can be evaluated directly via the analog converter BA050100 can be used instead. With the two 16-bit analog inputs and the four digital outputs of the BA050100 such an application can be realized perfectly. The measuring transducer is parameterized via the multicolor touchscreen display on the front and is adjustable for both current and voltage signals. The four digital outputs can be assigned to the analog input and an event can be programmed individually for each output.
In this specific case, the digital outputs control different colored lights up as well as an acoustic signal, which are switched for a short time via the pulse output setting at 90% of filling. An additional setting also makes it possible to show the switching operations of the indicator light signals on the display by changing color. The BA050100 can be front-mounted in a control cabinet door as well as with the adapter AC000035 on a top hat rail.
